Piano moving within Canada
If you need to send a piano or grand piano further away than, say, 400 km, it becomes more cost efficient to crate the piano (roughly $250 for an upright piano and $400 for a grand piano) , have it picked up from where it is and bring the piano to a hub in Toronto (roughly $100 charge)
Before you do that, contact Canadian Distribution Services at 604.279.0960 and ask for Jim Honeywell. Visit their website or get a quotation over the phone that will get the upright piano or grand piano to the city or town within Canada. You will then be responsible for charges incurred when transferring the piano from the hub to your location. Do not forget to insure the piano!
Piano Moving to the USA
If you would like to move your piano to the USA or you would purchase a piano from us and want it shipped to the USA, you would want to know the currency exchange rates, they can be found here. All our pricing is in Canadian dollars but sometimes we will except US currency as well. The moving company to call for this is Keyboard Carriage at 1.270. 737.5797. Keyboard Carriage won't come to your home to pick up the piano or deliver it to the site at the other end, but they will move it from a piano dealer in your town to one in the new town.
Most of our upright pianos and grand pianos, both new and used, are sold with a limited 10-year warranty. In the USA this warranty can be administered by members of the Piano Technicians Guild.
Advantages for Americans purchasing pianos in Canada are:
- All pianos purchased from us are totally exempt from Canadian taxes if exported.
- You do not have to pay us any American state taxes.
- You have to pay only 4.7% import duty on grand pianos or upright pianos NOT made in the USA), tariff number 9201.10.0005
- Pianos manufactured in the U.S.A or Canada falling under Nafta are free of tariffs. tariff number 9201.10.0005

World Wide Piano Moving
If you have decided to purchase a piano or grand piano in Europe or you want to move your piano to Shanghai or Melbourne, you need to make sure the piano is made "ocean safe" which means some expert packing. However, strange as it may be, the is more risk to ship a piano or grand piano on a truck than there is on a boat or an plane.
Usually the piano will go as a LTL (Less Than (full) Load) shipment is a 20 or 40 foot sealed container, so the trick is to get it to and from the container. We use Agility Logistics, you can call them at 1.800.465.1080 for more information. They do all our world wide shipping, including pipe organs. (see our sister website www.organs.ca)
Please do not forget to insure your piano and to declare the goods to the customs department of the country you are shipping it to. Not doing so could result in the seizure of your piano!
WARNING; There are strict regulations for the import of ivory. Make sure to check with the authorities on that subject before shipping the piano. Example: shipping a piano from the USA to Canada with ivory keys will automatically result in seizure of the piano, no matter what age or what brand name. No excuses!
